Wednesdays Reminder
EVERY Wednesday dismissal is 1 hour earlier than normal (at 2:45 PM) for Professional Learning Team (PLT) meetings. Click here to view the agendas for these meetings.

EARLY RELEASE days for this school year are: 9/23, 10/21, 12/2, 2/3, 3/10, and 4/21. Dismissal on those Wednesdays is at 1:15 PM.

Underwood Recognized as a Magnet School of Distinction

Underwood GT Magnet Elementary has been selected for a Magnet Schools of America (MSA) Merit Award as a Magnet School of Distinction. This national award, given by Magnet Schools of America, is based on a commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful desegregation/diversity efforts, and the consistent delivery of high quality education to students.

Underwood GT Magnet Elementary School is a beautiful school built in 1926 nestled in the heart of Raleigh ’s historic Five Points neighborhood. With around 500 students we maintain a community atmosphere while delivering an exciting magnet program... (continued on the Parent Information page.)


Fidelity FutureStage Program at Underwood

The North Carolina Symphony is one of five symphonies in the U.S. working with Fidelity Investments to bring music education into public schools. Learn more about this unique opportunity at Underwood. Additional information is available on the NC Symphony blog. Information about the "Phantom of the Orchestra" concert and the order form for tickets is here (October 12 deadline).


Just Push Play

Just Push Play is a program brought to Underwood by Be Active North Carolina. It is helping create an environment where physical activity is the norm throughout the day in our classrooms, in our afterschool programs and with our staff. Physical activity is a proven method to maintain a healthy weight and it improve classroom focus and reduce anxiety. The staff enjoyed a Just Push Play kick-off session which you can view here (click the "Play" arrow in the middle) and read about it here.
