    Small School, Big Talent

Underwood Gifted & Talented Magnet Elementary School was built in 1926 and bears the name of its first Principal, Myrtle Underwood, who served the students of Hayes Barton for over twenty-five years. Our small school allows students to become part of a school family that values the gifts and talents of each student while promoting social-emotional learning and holding high expectations for academic learning and success.

Gifted and Talented Magnet Pathway

  • pog

The Gifted & Talented Magnet Pathway believes every student has gifts and talents.  Whether students come to Underwood already knowing their strengths and passions or they utilize their years here to explore and cultivate them, our staff will work together with students and families to provide a well-rounded experience.  Students in GT schools explore electives in the arts and academic realms, all which enhance the Common Core and Essential Standards.
